The Story begin…
Well known and sucessful French football players with a passion for golf have established a golf club called GOLFOOT. Together with friends, supporters and sponsors they aim to return some of their luck and achievements to society through the creation of golf events. The benefits from these charity events will be used to build or renovate football areas and playgrounds, especially in inner cities, in order to make sport and recreations activities possible for children.
GOFUS in Germany is a success story and has existed for more than 13 years. Revenue from charity events and donations of over 3 Million Euros made it possible to built and renovate more than 100 football areas and playgrounds across Germany. Among the nearly 500 members, are the German footballers Uwe Seeler, Franz Beckenbauer, Uli Hoeness, Oliver Bierhof, Stefan Reuter, Karl-Heinz Riedle and Andreas Möller. Supported by other sporting friends and famous media representatives, and in collaboration with long-term established sponsors, GOFUS made their mark in Germany and successfully spread their idea to the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and now to France. Amongst the members and supporters of the international GOFUS family are prominent names like Ruud Gullit, Kurt Jara, Leo Beenhaaker, Ronald Koeman, Roger Federer, Ottmar Hitzfeld or Bernhard Russi.
GOLFOOT in France began at the end of June 2013. Strasbourg and the Kempferhof golf club were perfect hosts for this event and during three fantastic days GOLFOOT was brought to life. French and German ex-professionals played golf together with sponsors and enjoyed enjoyed a gala-night at the Hilton Hotel Strasbourg. There was extensive coverage in the press – GOLFOOT in France had a perfect start!
French participants in GOLFOOT opening event were led by the 1998 Football World Champions Frank Leboeuf and Alain Boghossian. Eric Roy, Laurent Robert, Romarin Billong, Daniel Moreira, Bruno Cheyrou, Stephane Porato, Philippe Jeannol, Didier Six also attended as well as the President of GOLFOOT France Frederic Dehu.
Franck Rolling, General Director of GOLFOOT is in contact wirh French football legends like Michel Platini, Laurent Blanc and Christophe Dugarry, who have already agreed to support and participate in future events!
GOLFOOT France is open to recent and former League 1 players and coaches as well as to selected top stars of other sports and certain ambassadors from media and associations.
